Washington Career Connect Learning Meets Upskills America

9:00 am – Noon

October 12, 2017

The Challenge

There will be roughly 740,000 job openings over the next five years in Washington state.

In May 2017 over 1200 workforce development stakeholders at 27 sites across Washington participated in the Governor’s Summit on Career Connected Learning. Join us on October 12th from 9:00 am – noon for:

  • An update on Career Connected Learning and new resources since the Summit
  • A presentation about UpSkill America, an employer-led movement to expand opportunity for America’s workers and help our economy and communities thrive by promoting training and advancement practices to help workers progress in their careers and move into better-paying jobs.
  • Local action team work.

P2P uses a unique model to digitally deliver an expert keynote presentation to multiple sites across the state, followed by locally facilitated action plans and networking. P2P is a two-time national award winning program (2015 UEDA Leadership and Collaboration and 2016 NACDEP Educational Technology Team) but more importantly, it is a statewide conference that allows more rural community leaders, businesses and members to work together and with resource providers without the expense of traveling to a traditional conference.

On August 25, 2016, we gathered a group of agencies and organizations that work in and around workforce development to explore this topic. Strategic Notes is a collection of challenges and successes they identified for us to explore.
